substance n.物质；牢固；基础；主旨[记]sub-在下面：-stance站。每一个东西的下面站着的，就是它的基础。[串]发展的主旨是用大量的物质构成牢固的基础。[例]The sapphire is a common substance that is used in the surface of watches.蓝宝石水晶是用于制造表的表面的一种常见物质。（所以不算很珍贵。）
