在备课本之前，要先熟悉本专业方面的培养目标及教学目的。把握本专业教学的总体方向，即要把学生培养成什么样的人才。
然后，具体到一本书的教学目标。吃透课本，把握教材的整体知识结构。不要仅仅局限于课本上的知识，要联系生活实际，不要与生活脱节。
在教学设计中应涉及到某一课的“教学目标”是什么。目标确定好了，下面的教学内容及活动就可以围绕着这个目标来设计了。
以阅读课为例：确定教学目标（Teaching Objectives）: After learning, the students should be1. able to build up their vocabulary by reading2. able to have interests about English by talking to each other3. able to use the words or setences in their lifes.
教学辅助（Teaching aids）:确定并准备好自己上课要使用的东西。如：PPT,blackboard,computer,ect.
教学重点（Important Points）:文中词汇和语法的学习
教学难点（Difficult Points）:如语法，重要句型结构等
教学过程（Teaching Procedures）:STEP I. (阅读前)Presentation: Pre-reading1. Test students'understanding of this text;2. Give a brief introduction about the background of this text.STEP II (阅读中)Practice: While-readingSTEP III (阅读后)Production: Post-reading1. What can we learn from the passage 2. (课后反思) Reflection:在上完一节课后，最重要的一件事就是反思，总结课堂上的不足或突发事件，以及自己教法和引入的效果如何。从而不断地汲取经验，不断进步。
在设计英语课的时候，一定要根据学生的个体差异情况。
备好课的同时建议多增加与孩子的情感沟通，这样有助于课堂的有序开展。
此外，要在平时多旁听别的老师的课，不断汲取经验。
