不可用数目计算的名词是不可数名词。大部分物质名词和抽象名词是不可数名词。比如 “air空气”, 我们不能计算空气的数目,因此air是不可数名词。比如下列不可数物质名词不可用数目计算:water水,electricity电wine酒, ink墨水iron铁,soil土 比如下列不可数抽象名词不可用数目计算:music音乐,art艺术love爱,happiness幸福health健康,pride骄傲不可数名词只有单数形式,无复数形式,做主语时,在句中对应的谓语动词用单数形式。The news is very important.这新闻非常重要His luggage looks heavy.他的行李看起来重。Time is up.时间到。虽然不能计算不可数名词的数目,但是可计算它的量。虽然不能计算“water水”的数目,但是若要衡量“water水”的量,我们可以说“two glasses of water 两杯水”,而“glass杯”就相当于衡量单位。因此,要表示不可数名词的量,须在其之前加衡量单位:a piece of advice一条建议a bottle of water一瓶水three bags of rice三袋米four liters of milk四公升牛奶ten kilos of meat十公斤肉不可数名词可单独使用,不加限定词;也可在其前面加限定词。1.表示泛指时,可单独使用Amy loves music.艾米喜欢音乐。Failure is the mother of success.失败乃成功之母。We don't like to drink beer.我们不喜欢喝啤酒。2.前面加不定代词some \ any \ little \ a little \ much \ a lot of \lots of \ plenty of \ much \ a great deal of等I have some money.我有一些钱。Have you got any rice?你有米吗?I've got a little money.我有一点钱。I haven't got much rice.我的米不多。I have to do a great deal of work.我有很多工作要做。She has plenty of time.她有很多时间3.前面加物主代词my \ your \ his \ her \ our \ their 等That is not my beer.那不是我的啤酒。Your milk is in the fridge.你的牛奶在冰箱里。We store our wine in the basement.我们把我们的酒存在地下室里。4.表示特指时,可在前面加冠词the (不可数名词前不能用不定冠词)The soup is very delicious.这汤很美味。The music is very loud.这音乐很大声。Do you like the tea?你喜欢这茶吗?
